Tiz the Season

For me, the Christmas season starts this week as I’m sure it does for many people.  Tomorrow, the icicle lights go up at the cottage and Mom and Dad already have the tree out and the house decorated.  Tree ornaments are going up on Thanksgiving Day.  All my own decorating will come a little later for me since I will be working quite a bit over the next 2 weeks.  Black Friday is fast approaching and if you want to get a heads up on whats out there this year you can check out www.blackfriday.info to see most of the national advertisements that will be released on Thursday morning.  For years and years, I’ve never been a fan of this mad consumerism dash on Friday.  Some of that though has changed over the years that I’ve been working in retail.  I can more fully appreciate the significance of Black Friday to the survival of many retail stores and other consumer goods businesses.  What I most hate about the day after though is the visual example of pure greed and ME, ME, ME attitudes that people bring with them.  People fighting over shopping carts, pushing, yelling, all that shit is a sight to behold especially when you are not participating in it.  Watching people literally run into the store at full speed so they can be the first person to get whatever the hot item is really is a pathetic sight.  On the flip side, I have to encourage it becuase my job and my income depend on their greedy appetite for “things”.  Oh well, I won’t ever be one of the people who participate in “Buy Nothing Day” which is the counter effort to Black Friday.  I’ll get their money anyway, maybe just a little later when I can charge them more for whatever it is they will eventually buy.

I’m posting a picture below that was taken before we got all this dam snow up here.  I was out to Peterson Park a few weeks ago with Gavin and had a nice time playing around with my camera.  Enjoy.
